Born August 4, 1924 in Baltimore Maryland. Enlisted in the Army November 12, 1943. Joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colorado and was assigned to Company L of the 85th Infantry Regiment. Served at Camp Swift, Texas and in Italy. During combat in Italy, he was wounded and was awarded two Bronze Star medals. Left the Army on March 14, 1946 but returned to duty during the Korean War. Commissioned a Second Lieutenant and served with the intelligence branch. Nickname "Newc." ...
